AICOM News & EventsAICOM: One Team, One GoalAICOM Solutions held its annual team building activity at the Caliraya Resort Club in Laguna, Philippines last March 5 and 6, 2011. This year’s theme is “AICOM: One Team, One Goal.” Participants from AICOM’s Ortigas, Manila and San Pablo, Laguna offices joined as one team all throughout the event. On the first day, participants were divided into 5 groups corresponding five team colors namely Yellow, Blue, Red, Green and Violet. Each group went through five different challenges simultaneously and in rotation. The challenges were tailored obstacle courses, mudslide, earth ball, pass the message, swimming pool game and stepping stones, all set to incorporate tests on team strategy, concentration, motivation, patience, trust, cooperation, as well as physical and mental capabilities. These challenges were also designed not just for the teams to have fun, but also to get them more acquainted with the company’s mission and vision, policies and values. After a group finishes a challenge, a facilitator conducts a debriefing session where lessons learned are immediately discussed and integrated. Members of the management team were assigned as facilitators for each challenge. They took note of how each group strategized to win the game, how well they follow instructions, and even how they react. During this 2-day event, participants we’re also given free time to enjoy the place, de-stress and relax, and also to give more time for AICOM Solutions employees from different sites to get to know one another and mingle with those that they have met for the first time. It was a great time to build camaraderie. Mr. Radito Manicad, a Team Building Consultant from Harness Company facilitated the general debriefing session for each of the 5 challenges and dug out insights from among the participants. The insights and how to apply them in order to unite as a team and achieve a common goal was also discussed. Based on this session, the challenges and the event as a whole have strengthened unity and team spirit among the participants. All participants also learned that harmonious relationship, trust, reliability, respect, good communication, and open-mindedness are essential for teamwork, and for achieving a common goal. Indeed, the physical and mental challenges, and all other activities done during the team building went more than an opportunity to release and re-energize. For everyone at AICOM, the event demonstrated the importance of being one as a team, and revived the motivation to work hard for the short-term and long-term goals of the company. During the closing program, prizes were then awarded to winners in each of the different challenges, and the overall winning team was given the ‘Ultimate Survivor Team’ Award. Towards the end, Mr. Noel Azucena, Managing Director of AICOM Solutions, commended the HR Team for organizing the successful event and also the participants who joined and actively participated. |
